
United Nations Department of Peace Keeping Operation (UNDPKO) awarded Aircontact in November 2008 one of their largest ever IL-76 contracts. The mission was to move UN equipment from Port Sudan and El Obeid into Darfur Area in support of the UNAMID operation. A total of 423 revenue flights were arranged by 2 Sudanese IL-76TD aircraft flying 3-4 flights per day. Project Managers Daniel Carey and Kai Dahl stayed for long periods in Sudan, co-ordinating the operation between the various UN Movcon teams at each location and the airline.
Aircontact Managing Director Ulf Gregersen can after a visit to the UN in New York and Khartoum, say that this operation, which ended February 26th2009, was a great success. We even managed to move more cargo than planned during a much shorter period than expected by the UN.
