Late January UN, New York appointed Aircontact to execute the deployment of the Egyptian Mechanised Infantry Advanced Party to Darfur. The appointment was made after a tender process where Aircontact could provide the best solution.

The airlift started February 24th and lasted until March 22n. In this period we executed some 32 flights using up to three IL-76 aircrafts daily. At the end we had moved approximately 1000 tons and 96 passengers.
Aircontact representative in Cairo cooperated with Australian logistic support company PDL Toll and Egyptian Ministry of Import and Export representatives to provide the best support for the entire operation. We used Egyptian air force facilities at Cairo military airbase and the UN provided their service at the end destination, Nyala airport in the Darfur province of Sudan.
Even though facing several obstacles along the way, the airlift was a great success and the Egyptian advanced party is now ready to receive the rest of the 6000 UN soldiers and their equipment, which is being deployed by ships from Cairo to Port Sudan while this is being written.
