Military in Denmark, Norway and Finland have based on previous good experience and cost efficient solution signed another contract with Aircontact to provide twice weekly flights between Nordic countries and Afghanistan. Contract period is for one year and Aircontact will use a modern B737-800 with winglet from Pegasus in Turkey to fly between Oslo/Copenhagen/Pori and Kabul. Other countries like Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden who also contribute to the ISAF force in Afghanistan use the flight frequently based on agreement with MOD in Denmark and Norway.
Pegasus has now for almost 5 years been flying this route with hundreds of flights in/out of Kabul making Pegasus the most experiences JAR OPS operator flying into Afghanistan, what is recognised as one of the most difficult part of the world to aircraft operation. Pegasus in Turkey operate a large and modern fleet of B737 and has a very good location in the middle between Afghanistan and Nordic countries making it very suitable for crew change and fueling for this operating which use approx. 45 block hours each week.
